Mission Statement

Welcometo the web site of St George’s Anglican Church. We are part of the Anglican Church of Canada, and have been witnessing to Christ in this area for over 150 years. We believe that we are all God’s children, created equal in the likeness of God, and we try to see the image of Christ in all those we meet.
We are a family sized parish, meaning that our Sunday attendance is usually 40-50 people. We are located on Guelph Line, just north of the intersection with Derry Road, so we describe ourselves as either St George’s Church, Lowville or St George’s Church, Milton. Our facilities combine a beautiful century stone church building with a modern parish hall, Sunday School area, and offices. We have plenty of parking, and our building is wheelchair accessible.
Our Sunday service is in the Anglican tradition of a weekly Eucharist (Holy Communion) using modern language, and we have frequently been told that we are friendly, welcoming, and hospitable. We worship at 9.30, but come early and stay after – we have tea, coffee and refreshments before and after, and this will give us time to meet you and chat with you. Bring your children, too.
However, I doubt that I can convince you of any of this just by writing about it. I am reminded that the Bible tells us how one of Jesus’ first disciples, a man named Philip, wanted to tell his friend Nathaniel about Jesus. Nathaniel was skeptical about the idea. Philip didn’t try to argue with him and tell him a thousand reasons why he was wrong. He just said, “Come and see.”
So, like Philip, I extend to you a warm invitation to “Come and See” what St George’s is like, and how it is that we try to put the teachings of Jesus into practice in our lives.
